Raija Merilä is already 74 years, and Ilkka Porkka, too. However, the productivity of Raija is at the moment higher than ever. She is painting and creating almost every day. No deadlines, no obligations, no stress – only willingness to paint. Ilkka makes frames for Raija and other artists, too. He also takes pictures of the artworks, negotiates about new exhibitions, writes press releases, and build web pages and social media posts etc. Cooperation without contracts…

Raija Merilä
Painter, author, teatcher
Raija started to draw as a child, for over 70 years ago, and to paint over 50 years ago. However, she made her living as a teacher of Finnish language and history. She got her full pension in 2012 and sins then, she has been painting every day. Three novels, hundreds of paintings, no end to see for her creativity.
Ilkka Porkka
Art framer, gallerist, journalist, editor-in-chief, author
Ilkka made his living as a journalist for over 40 years. He has had many type on enterprises, like selling and installing CCTV and burglar alarm systems for 15 years, running hotels as well. He started his first art café and gallery for over 23 years ago in Kotka, Finland with Raija. Over eight years ago they build their big home gallery in Paide – one of the largest in Estonia. Now ilkka is also framing, writing books about art and print-on-demand etc.
